Jesus — The Alpha and the Omega

Jesus — The Alpha and the Omega

* Pearl at Kalauao, Oahu, Hawaii

It’s only the first quarter of the year, and already I’ve felt what many of us experience but don’t always admit.

I began 2026 with strong intentions.

Now in my second year as a business owner, I had clear goals, renewed focus, and a vision of what this year could be.

But along the way, I’ve found myself drifting at times. Fear has crept in. Doubt followed close behind. Even the thought of stepping away crossed my mind.

And I know I’m not alone.

Most of us begin the year the same way — with hope and determination. We set goals. We make resolutions. We tell ourselves, “This is the year things will change.”

For a while, the momentum is there.

But then life happens. Distractions appear. Motivation fades. Plans shift.

Still, I remind myself that the first season of anything is rarely a measure of its outcome. Growth isn’t instant; it requires endurance (James 1:2-4). Progress often comes through pressure: Challenges, adjustments, and moments that call for perseverance (Romans 5:3-4).

Yet in the middle of all my plans and pursuits I ask:

Is Jesus still the beginning of everything in my life?

Have I stayed aligned with what truly matters?
Have my priorities quietly shifted?
Has fear taken the place that belongs to Him?
Am I still…Zealous for the life He has called me to live?

Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.” — Revelation 22:13

I often think of this as a statement about eternity — that Christ was there at the start of everything and will be there at the end. Jesus is actually declaring His sovereignty — He stands at the beginning of all things and at the end of all things.

But I believe this truth is not only about eternity.

Jesus is meant to be the center of every moment in between.

The Zealous life is lived in that center — the daily journey of faith where we walk with Christ, grow in Christlikeness, and live with the joyful assurance that the One who saved us is also the One we are moving toward.

Christ Is the Beginning

The Bible reminds us that Christ deserves first place in everything.

“That in all things He might have the preeminence.” — Colossians 1:18

Jesus is not someone we fit into our busy schedule when it’s convenient. He is meant to be the foundation of everything.

First in our decisions and ambitions.
First in our relationships.
First in our daily walk.

When Christ is first, our lives begin to shift.

We no longer live solely for success or recognition, but for something far greater — the glory of God.

And this is where life becomes truly meaningful.

At Zealous, we often say, “Be Zealous for Life.”

But I’ve had to ask myself — what does that really mean in my everyday life?

One verse that continues to speak deeply to me is John 10:10, where Jesus says, “I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” This has become one of my favorite promises, because it reminds me that real life — full, meaningful life — is found in Him.

To me, it means remembering each day that life itself is a gift from God.

And that abundant life Jesus talks about isn’t about comfort, success, or achievement the way the world defines it.

It’s about staying connected to Him.

Learning to walk with Him.
Learning to trust Him.
Learning to live in a way that reflects Him.

And I’ve found that when I choose that — even imperfectly — something begins to change.

Life starts to look a little more like His.

Christ in the Middle — A Life That Reflects Him

Jesus taught that our lives should shine in a way that points others to God.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

Our good works are not for personal praise, but so that others may see Christ through us.

The Bible reminds us that we were created with purpose:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…” — Ephesians 2:10

We are God’s workmanship — intentionally created to live in a way that reflects Him.

For some, that looks like raising children with love and faith.
For others, it’s serving others, running a business with integrity, encouraging a friend, or showing hospitality.

Scripture calls us to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share (1 Timothy 6:17–19).

In other words, a life centered on Christ naturally becomes a life that blesses others.

Every act of kindness.
Every moment of generosity.
Every decision to walk in integrity.

These become reflections of Christ in us.

Christ Is Also the End

Just as Jesus is the beginning and the center, He is also the end.

He is not only the starting point of our faith — He is our destination.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2.

Our faith begins with Him.

And one day, it will be completed in Him.

This reminds us that life is not ultimately about achieving goals, building careers, or accumulating possessions.

Our true purpose is to walk faithfully with Christ until the very end.

So if, like me, you’ve felt moments of drifting, doubt, or losing focus — this is not the end of the story.

We can begin again, not by striving harder, but by placing Jesus back where He belongs — at the center of it all.

Final Encouragement

Living Zealous means:

Christ at the start.
Christ in the middle.
Christ at the finish.

So as this year continues, let us be reminded of the One who declared:

“I am the Alpha and the Omega.”

Start with Christ.
Walk with Christ.
Finish with Christ.

This is the life Jesus promised — the abundant life. A life that begins with Him, is sustained by Him, and one day will be completed in His presence.
